Print Design
Milhouse
Benefits Postcard
I designed a 6”×4” postcard to remind Milhouse employees about upcoming open enrollment, with a focus on clarity, approachability, and quick readability. The piece needed to communicate essential information at a glance while maintaining a strong, cohesive brand presence.
The design incorporates a human-centered image on the back to create relatability, supported by icons representing key insurance options to enhance visual understanding. A subtle linework pattern, inspired by the icon style, adds texture and continuity across both sides of the card, extending to the front in a light blue accent against a clean white background. This approach creates a balanced, visually engaging piece that effectively highlights important information without overwhelming the viewer.
CSI MSR
Booklet Redesign
For the February 2026 Master Specifiers Retreat (MSR), I redesigned the Construction Specifications Institute’s (CSI) event booklet to improve both usability and visual impact. The booklet serves as a comprehensive guide for attendees, featuring schedules, specifier bios, and Building Product Manufacturer profiles, and required a layout that could balance dense information with clarity and readability.
The redesign addresses previous production challenges by increasing the inner margins to accommodate for spiral binding, improving legibility and overall user experience. Visually, the piece introduces a modern block-based motif to create structure and consistency across pages. Alternating left- and right-aligned title treatments add rhythm while ensuring content stays clear of the binding, and a refined typographic hierarchy, using bold headings and clean body text, enhances navigation throughout the booklet.
Heritage Chorale
Concert Collateral
For Heritage Chorale’s seasonal concerts, I designed a cohesive set of promotional materials, including an 8.5”×11” poster, ticket, postcard, and concert booklet cover, tailored to each performance’s unique theme. For the Spring 2026 concert, Realms of Dream and Destiny, the goal was to create a semi-whimsical visual identity that reflected the tone and emotion of the music while maintaining clarity across multiple formats.
The design centers on a whimsical image of a building featuring a telescope, evoking curiosity and imagination, with subtle fantasy elements introduced through illustrated dragons, which were requested by the artistic director. A script typeface paired with a warm golden yellow draws from the imagery to highlight key information, while a clean sans-serif ensures readability across all materials. This visual system was adapted across each deliverable, maintaining consistency while adjusting layout to suit different formats.
INSIGHT
Winter 2024
For the Winter 2024 edition of INSIGHT, The Chicago School’s annual alumni magazine, I contributed to the layout design of the front and back matter, as well as two feature stories within the publication. Centered around themes in psychology and the institution’s 45th anniversary, the issue required a thoughtful balance between editorial consistency and distinct visual storytelling across features.
Each feature was designed to reflect its subject matter through tone and visual approach. Nurturing Neurodiversity: How Can We Build a More Neuro-Inclusive Society? uses a soft, approachable aesthetic, incorporating a muted color palette—primarily light green—and expressive typography to create a sense of care and accessibility. In contrast, Social Isolation, Public Health, and the Paradox of Connectivity takes on a more subdued, introspective tone, utilizing a darker background and imagery-driven layout to emphasize themes of loneliness and emotional distance, while also adding visual contrast within the publication.
The Chicago School
Brand Book
Following The Chicago School’s 2023 rebrand, I redesigned the brand book as part of a broader effort to update key recruitment materials. Distributed to prospective students, this piece plays an important role in communicating the institution’s identity, requiring a balance of clarity, cohesion, and visual engagement.
The design modernizes and expands upon the refreshed brand system, highlighting the versatility of its signature “swoop” motif across layouts. A restrained use of the updated color palette maintains a clean, contemporary feel, culminating in a bold, full-bleed blue spread for visual impact. Authentic school photography is integrated throughout to create a sense of connection, helping prospective students envision the experience and environment firsthand.
INSIGHT
Winter 2023
For the Winter 2023 edition of INSIGHT, I designed multiple feature spreads centered on the theme of creating safer communities.
Each layout was concept-driven to reflect the tone of its subject. The Safer Communities Pact emphasizes collaboration and progress through a structured, accessible design, using clear hierarchy and balanced layouts to guide readers through complex information. Immediate Jeopardy addresses the impact of the overturning of Roe v. Wade with a bold, expressive approach—contrasting blue and pink tones challenge traditional gender associations, while strong typography and symbolic, gender-neutral imagery represent the layered emotional experiences of those affected. Pull quotes are treated with prominent, heavy type to reinforce strength and advocacy. The Uses of Grief takes a more restrained, somber direction, incorporating a darker palette with selective light blue accents—drawn from the Naomi Ruth Cohen Institute’s brand—to create moments of focus within the layout. Documentary-style photography from the institute’s conference is paired with intentional spacing and subdued color to convey both the weight of loss and the family’s ongoing commitment to mental health education.
Voices
Summer 2023
For the Summer 2023 issue of Voices, Pacific Oaks College’s alumni magazine, I led the full design of the feature spreads—my first time designing the publication at this scale. While the cover and back matter followed established templates, I was given creative direction over the interior features, allowing each story to take on a distinct visual identity aligned with its subject matter.
Each feature was designed to reinforce its narrative through concept-driven layouts. Panic: A True American Pastime draws on newspaper-inspired typography and bold red accents to reflect urgency and media influence surrounding moral panic. On the Shoulders of Giants takes a more refined, minimal approach, using a green palette tied to both the imagery and Pacific Oaks’ brand to center the individuals featured. How to Create a Teacher Shortage… and How to Solve One adopts a classroom-inspired aesthetic, incorporating lined paper textures, annotations, and chalkboard elements to create a thoughtful, immersive reading experience.
Colleges of Law
Program One Sheets
As part of The Colleges of Law’s 2022 rebrand, I designed a series of updated program one-sheets to support student recruitment. These materials were created to clearly communicate program offerings while aligning with the school’s refreshed, modern visual identity.
The layouts emphasize clarity and accessibility, using a clean white background and Museo Sans to maintain a contemporary, easy-to-read design. Brand colors are applied selectively in headers, footers, and key highlights to reinforce identity without overwhelming the content. Photography was intentionally chosen to reflect both in-person and online learning environments, ensuring the materials feel inclusive and resonate with a wide range of prospective students.
INSIGHT
Winter 2022
For the Winter 2022 edition of INSIGHT, The Chicago School’s annual alumni magazine, I contributed to the design of the cover feature, The Model Minority Myth, as well as the “On Campus” front-of-book section. The issue explores a range of topics within psychology, with the feature focusing on the complexities and impact of the model minority stereotype within the AAPI community. This issue won the 2022 Ozzie Award for Cover Design (Alumni/University).
The design of The Model Minority Myth prioritizes clarity and focus, using a restrained, minimal layout to balance imagery and editorial content. A soft, abstract background—derived from a blurred portion of the cover image—creates visual continuity while allowing the typography to remain highly legible and prominent. This approach ensures the subject matter remains the focal point, supporting a thoughtful and serious tone. For the “On Campus” section, I worked within an established template, refining layout, spacing, and hierarchy to ensure consistency while maintaining a clean, engaging reading experience.
Pacific Oaks 2022
Commencement
For Pacific Oaks College’s 2022 Commencement, I designed the official booklet to support the institution’s 62nd graduation ceremony. As a key event piece, the design needed to feel elevated and celebratory while remaining aligned with the college’s established brand identity.
The visual approach reinterprets Pacific Oaks’ brand through a more refined, minimalist lens. A muted teal from the secondary palette replaces the primary green to create a more elegant tone, paired with a serif-driven typographic system for a formal, timeless feel. Script accents and structured serif headings add hierarchy and sophistication, while Avenir is used for body copy to maintain brand consistency. The cover incorporates subtle finishing details, including a raised spot gloss on “2022,” to enhance the tactile experience. Within the existing template, content was carefully structured to ensure clarity and cohesion while maintaining a polished, elevated presentation throughout.
ethcl
Concentrate Boxes
For ethcl Cannabis, I designed packaging for their concentrate products while working with Gold Coast Distributions. The project required aligning closely with an already established brand identity while refining and expanding it into a cohesive packaging system.
The exterior design builds on the brand’s original concepts, using bold, minimal layouts with color-coded borders to distinguish product strains and maintain strong shelf recognition. A die-cut window on the bottom of the box allows customers to view product quality, adding both functionality and transparency. Inside, the design introduces a more narrative element, featuring a topographic map of the company’s grow site as a subtle brand detail that reinforces their connection to place. This is paired with a textured background to complement existing materials, creating a packaging experience that feels both intentional and true to the brand.
INSIGHT
Winter 2021
For the Winter 2021 edition of INSIGHT, The Chicago School’s annual alumni magazine, I collaborated with Michael Curiel on the design of the cover feature, In Their Own Words, and independently designed the fourth feature and back-of-book section. The issue reflects on the events of 2020, including the COVID-19 pandemic and the Black Lives Matter movement, requiring a thoughtful and respectful visual approach.
The design of In Their Own Words centers on personal storytelling, using layered handwritten script drawn from each contributor’s narrative to create a textured, immersive background. A rich purple palette—referencing the Black Lives Matter movement—grounds the piece, while signature-style typography reinforces the authenticity and individuality of each voice. Portraits and layouts are carefully balanced to highlight both the people and their words, creating an intimate reading experience that emphasizes reflection, identity, and lived experience.
Voices
Summer 2021
For the Summer 2021 edition of Voices, Pacific Oaks College’s alumni magazine, I designed the cover feature, The Next Generation Social Worker, which highlights the evolving role of social workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. The design needed to capture both the challenges of the moment and the optimism and impact these individuals bring to their communities.
The visual concept centers on social workers as a source of light, expressed through a radiant sunburst gradient and a bright, warm color palette. Custom illustrations depict a range of real-world scenarios, giving each subject space to represent their unique role while contributing to a cohesive narrative. Across the interior spreads, elements intentionally break beyond the frame to symbolize the far-reaching impact of their work, while a structured three-column layout ensures clarity and readability. This balance of expressive illustration and thoughtful layout reinforces both the emotional tone and informational depth of the story.
Voices
Summer 2020
For the Spring 2020 edition of Voices, Pacific Oaks College’s alumni magazine celebrating its 75th anniversary, I designed the feature A Life in 3-D and contributed to the front- and back-of-book section. The issue balanced commemorative storytelling with editorial features, requiring a design approach that felt both personal and elevated alongside the anniversary treatment.
The design of A Life in 3-D draws directly from the subject’s story and imagery, using a soft pink palette inspired by the photography and contrasted with natural greens to create warmth and cohesion. Hand-drawn chrysanthemum illustrations—evolving from closed to fully bloomed—serve as a visual metaphor for personal growth throughout the article, while subtle lavender accents extend the handcrafted aesthetic. For the front- and back-of-book sections, I followed the established template, ensuring clarity, consistency, and an engaging reading experience.
